Pevsner bibliography

  1. Dear M.Capet
    Thanks – an interesting review with some generous praise and some well-found criticisms! Dr Darling rightly regrets the lack of a bibliography: space prevented it, but the full version is to be found on my website at , and there will be a select bibliography in the paperback, which is published on Feb.7 2013. She mentions that she would like to know more about Francesca Wilson: an interesting PhD thesis came out rather too late for me to make more than the most cursory use of it: ‘Place, life histories and the politics of relief: episodes in the life of Francesca Wilson, humanitarian educator activist’, Siân Lliwen Roberts,(2010) – – she might like to chase it up at

    Dear Ms Harries,

    Thanks for the excellent Pevsner bibliography. Are you sure however about :
    The Planning of the English Country House (Birkbeck, 1961).
    Is it not _he Planning of the Elizabethan Country House_?

    By the way I find this means of communication inconvenient and irksome.

    Best wishes,

    A. Capet

    @Susie Harries
    Many thanks – I have told her she might get a copy from the publishers.
    Best wishes,

  2. Certainly – I remember meeting Elizabeth Darling after a very interesting talk she gave on inter-war narratives of modernity, at a conference at Warwick University a couple of years ago. I’ll get in touch with the publishers.
